What is CVE-2023-53740?
The Screen SFT DAB 1.9.3 version is vulnerable to an authentication bypass that allows an attacker to reset the admin password without needing the original credentials. By exploiting the userManager.cgx endpoint, an attacker can send a specially crafted JSON request containing a new MD5-hashed password, enabling them to directly modify the admin account settings. This flaw poses a significant security risk, potentially allowing unauthorized access to sensitive administrative functions in the application.
