What is CVE-2023-5978?
In versions of FreeBSD 13-RELEASE prior to 13-RELEASE-p5, a flaw in the cap_net service's validation process allows applications to bypass previously established domain name restrictions. This vulnerability arises when resolvable domain names are specified without additional limitations, permitting new entries that may include domains not previously permitted. As a result, unauthorized applications could potentially resolve previously restricted domain names, posing significant security risks.
