What is CVE-2024-0920?

A vulnerability exists in the TRENDnet TEW-822DRE router resulting from improper handling of POST requests within the component managing ping commands. Specifically, manipulation of the ipv4_ping and ipv6_ping parameters allows for command injection, enabling an attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the device. This vulnerability can be exploited remotely, presenting a significant security risk to users of affected versions. The issue has been publicly disclosed, and the vendor has yet to respond to initial reports regarding the vulnerability.
