What is CVE-2024-12648?

A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the TIFF data EXIF tag processing of specific Canon Small Office Multifunction Printers and Laser Printers. This flaw may allow an attacker on the same network segment to exploit the vulnerability, potentially causing the affected devices to become unresponsive or enabling arbitrary code execution. Affected devices include various models of Satera, Color imageCLASS, and i-SENSYS printers that run on firmware version 05.04 and earlier, both in Japan and the US as well as Europe.
