What is CVE-2024-13986?

Nagios XI versions prior to 2024R1.3.2 are susceptible to a remote code execution vulnerability, stemming from a combination of insufficient file path validation and flaws in the Core Config Snapshots interface. This vulnerability allows an attacker to upload arbitrary files and manipulate path traversals during MIB uploads and snapshot renaming. Successful exploitation enables the execution of unauthorized PHP scripts in web-accessible directories, posing a significant security threat as these scripts run with the privileges of the 'www-data' user.

Affected Version(s)

Nagios XI * < 2024R1.3.2

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
