Summary

A vulnerability exists in the Intermediate System-to-Intermediate System (IS-IS) protocol within Cisco IOS Software and Cisco IOS XE Software. This security issue arises from inadequate input validation when processing incoming IS-IS packets. An attacker, positioned Layer 2 adjacent to the targeted device and having established an adjacency, can exploit this flaw by sending a specially crafted IS-IS packet.
