What is CVE-2024-20484?

A vulnerability in the External Agent Assignment Service (EAAS) feature of Cisco Enterprise Chat and Email (ECE) allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to initiate a denial of service (DoS) condition. This issue arises from inadequate validation of Media Routing Peripheral Interface Manager (MR PIM) traffic sent to the affected device. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by transmitting specially crafted MR PIM traffic, potentially leading to a failure in the MR PIM connection between Cisco ECE and Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise (CCE). This would inhibit customers from initiating chat, callback, or delayed callback sessions until the EAAS process is manually restarted, requiring intervention through the System Console.
