What is CVE-2024-21197?

A security weakness exists in the MySQL Server component of Oracle MySQL, which can be exploited by high-privileged attackers with network access through various protocols. This vulnerability can allow an attacker to induce a denial of service condition, causing the MySQL Server to hang or crash repeatedly. Affected versions include MySQL Server 8.0.39 and earlier, as well as 8.4.2 and earlier, and 9.0.1 and earlier, where successful exploitation can severely impact availability and disrupt service.
