Out-of-bounds Write Vulnerabilities in AutomationDirect P3-550E Firmware
CVE-2024-24954
What is CVE-2024-24954?
AutomationDirect's P3-550E with firmware version 1.2.10.9 contains several out-of-bounds write vulnerabilities within the Programming Software Connection FileSystem API. These vulnerabilities arise when specially crafted network packets are sent, leading to potential heap-based memory corruption. An attacker can exploit these flaws by sending malicious packets that trigger arbitrary null-byte writes at the specific offset of 0xb69c8 in the firmware. This could allow attackers to manipulate memory, potentially resulting in unpredictable system behavior or unauthorized access.
