What is CVE-2024-25124?

The Fiber web framework, written in Go, presents a vulnerability due to its CORS middleware allowing insecure configurations prior to version 2.52.1. This misconfiguration permits the Access-Control-Allow-Origin header to wildcard (*) while having Access-Control-Allow-Credentials set to true, deviating from established security best practices. Such settings can lead to unauthorized access to sensitive user data, opening pathways to various attacks detailed in industry analyses. While version 2.52.1 addresses this issue, users are advised to verify their CORS configurations, ensuring that wildcard origins are avoided when credentials are in use.
