What is CVE-2024-26131?
Element Android, the Matrix client for Android devices, is prone to an intent redirection vulnerability that impacts versions 1.4.3 through 1.6.10. This flaw enables an unauthorized third-party application to initiate internal activities through the passing of specific parameters. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability to display arbitrary web pages, execute unauthorized JavaScript code, circumvent PIN code protections, and potentially perform account takeovers by presenting false login screens to capture user credentials intended for legitimate servers. The vulnerability has been addressed in version 1.6.12, and no workarounds are available for earlier versions.
