Local Privilege Escalation Vulnerability in Zimbra Collaboration (ZCS)
CVE-2024-27442
7.8HIGH
What is CVE-2024-27442?
A local privilege escalation issue has been identified in versions 9.0 and 10.0 of Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS). The vulnerability arises from the zmmailboxdmgr binary, which is designed to run under the zimbra user with root permissions for performing specific mailbox operations. Careless input argument management allows attackers to escalate their privileges from the zimbra user to root. This flaw could enable unauthorized users to execute arbitrary commands, thereby compromising the integrity and confidentiality of the system.
