What is CVE-2024-31145?

Certain PCI devices may be incorrectly allocated Reserved Memory Regions, created for Intel VT-d or Unity Mapping ranges for AMD-Vi. These regions are essential for critical platform operations like USB emulation. Due to an error in the handling of memory mappings, once activated, these mappings may erroneously persist, allowing inappropriate access by guests to memory areas that should be restricted. This oversight could lead to unauthorized data exposure and potential security risks for affected systems.
