What is CVE-2024-38525?
The distributed tracing library for C++ provided by Datadog, known as dd-trace-cpp, exhibits a vulnerability related to the improper handling of malformed unicode. Specifically, when the library fails to accurately extract trace context, it logs information using the nlohmann JSON library, which can trigger an uncaught exception and subsequently cause the application to crash. This issue has significant implications for software stability and was resolved in version 0.2.2 of the library.
