Crashing App with Just 4 Bytes: Ollama's GGUF File Upload Vulnerability
CVE-2024-39720
8.2HIGH
What is CVE-2024-39720?
A vulnerability affecting the Ollama application allows an attacker to exploit a flaw in processing GGUF files. By sending two specially crafted HTTP requests, an assailant can upload a malformed GGUF file, triggering a segmentation fault when the application attempts to process it. This is facilitated by a manipulated Modelfile that references an attacker-controlled blob file. This type of attack could result in application crashes and potential denial of service.
