What is CVE-2024-42365?
A vulnerability exists in the Asterisk telephony toolkit, specifically affecting AMI (Asterisk Manager Interface) users with 'write=originate' permissions. This flaw allows these users to manipulate configuration files within the '/etc/asterisk/' directory. By leveraging the ability to curl remote files and write to disk, they can not only create new files but also append data to existing files using the 'FILE' function in the 'SET' application. This could lead to significant security risks, including privilege escalation, unauthorized remote code execution, and blind server-side request forgery across various arbitrary protocols.
