What is CVE-2024-43636?

The Win32k Elevation of Privilege vulnerability allows a compromised user to execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges. An attacker exploiting this vulnerability could potentially install programs; view, change or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights. The issue arises from how the Win32k component of the Windows operating system handles certain requests. Successful exploitation requires that a user log in to the system and run a specially crafted application. This vulnerability poses significant risks, particularly in environments where untrusted applications may be executed.
