Arbitrary Code Execution Vulnerability in MindsDB Platform
CVE-2024-45849
What is CVE-2024-45849?
The MindsDB platform is vulnerable to arbitrary code execution when integrated with Microsoft SharePoint. Specifically, this issue arises in versions 23.10.5.0 through 24.7.4.1. When databases are created with the SharePoint engine, a specially crafted 'INSERT' query can be executed to generate a list. If this query contains embedded Python code, it can lead to unintended execution of that code on the server via the eval function. This poses significant security risks, as malicious actors could exploit this functionality to execute arbitrary commands on the underlying system.
