Cross-site Scripting Vulnerability in Netgate pfSense CE
CVE-2024-57273
5.4MEDIUM
What is CVE-2024-57273?
Netgate pfSense CE, prior to the 2.8.0 beta release, is susceptible to a Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in its Automatic Configuration Backup (ACB) service. This security flaw allows remote attackers to exploit an unsanitized 'reason' field, potentially executing arbitrary JavaScript, deleting backups, or leaking sensitive information. Furthermore, a derived device key based on the public SSH key can be exploited, amplifying the risk. Users are advised to update to the latest version to mitigate these vulnerabilities.
