What is CVE-2024-58357?

SurrealDB versions prior to 2.1.0 are affected by a denial of service vulnerability stemming from an uncaught exception in the rand::time() function. When authorized clients invoke this function with a None result from timestamp_opt, it causes server panics due to the panic triggered during the unwrap process. This allows attackers to repeatedly call the function, leading to service outages and disruption of normal operations.
