Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in BerriAI Litellm by BerriAI
CVE-2024-6825
What is CVE-2024-6825?
BerriAI Litellm version 1.40.12 is susceptible to a vulnerability that enables remote code execution due to insecure handling of the 'post_call_rules' configuration. This flaw allows an attacker to insert arbitrary callbacks by manipulating how function names are parsed and executed. Cleverly, an attacker could exploit this by specifying system-level commands, such as 'os.system', as callback functions. Consequently, when a chat response is generated, these commands could be executed, leading to significant security risks. It is essential for users to be aware of this vulnerability and apply patches where available.
