Heap-Based Buffer Overflow in GRUB Affects Red Hat Products
CVE-2025-0690

6.1MEDIUM

What is CVE-2025-0690?

A vulnerability exists in GRUB where improper handling of user input during the 'read' command can lead to a buffer overflow. This flaw occurs as the input length is managed using a 32-bit integer, which, if exceeded, results in an out-of-bounds write in the heap-based buffer. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow an attacker to corrupt critical internal data of GRUB, potentially leading to a bypass of secure boot mechanisms.
