What is CVE-2025-12148?

In versions of Search Guard prior to 3.1.2, IP address fields suffer from improper enforcement of field masking rules. While the confidential contents are redacted in the returned search results, the vulnerability allows attackers to retrieve hits on specific IP values, potentially reconstructing sensitive information. To mitigate risks until an upgrade can be performed, implementing field-level security (FLS) for affected fields is recommended.
