Summary

A vulnerability exists in the software upgrade process of Cisco Nexus 3000 and 9000 Series Switches operating in standalone NX-OS mode. This vulnerability arises from insufficient validation of elements within a software image. An authenticated local attacker with Administrator credentials can exploit this weakness by installing a crafted software image, enabling them to execute arbitrary commands on the underlying operating system with elevated privileges. Network administrators are strongly advised to validate the hash of any software image prior to installation to mitigate potential risks.
