Denial of Service Vulnerability in ClamAV's UDF Processing
CVE-2025-20234
What is CVE-2025-20234?
A vulnerability within the Universal Disk Format (UDF) processing in ClamAV allows unauthenticated remote attackers to exploit a memory overread issue during file scanning. By submitting a specially crafted UDF file for scanning, attackers may induce a denial of service condition, thereby terminating the ClamAV scanning process on affected devices. This can compromise the availability of the software, leaving systems vulnerable to further risks. Users of ClamAV should apply the relevant security patches to mitigate potential attacks.
