What is CVE-2025-20248?
A flaw in the installation process of Cisco IOS XR Software allows authenticated, local attackers with root-system privileges to bypass software image signature verification. This weakness arises from inadequate validation of files during the installation of .iso files. An attacker could exploit this by altering the contents of an .iso image, thereby installing and activating it on the device. This exploitation could enable the execution of unsigned files during the image activation process, posing serious security risks.
