What is CVE-2025-20315?

A vulnerability exists in the Network-Based Application Recognition (NBAR) feature of Cisco IOS XE Software, which can be exploited by an unauthenticated remote attacker. This issue arises from the improper handling of malformed Control and Provisioning of Wireless Access Points (CAPWAP) packets. By sending these malformed packets to an affected device, an attacker could trigger an unexpected reload, leading to a denial of service condition. Organizations using Cisco IOS XE Software should review their configurations and apply mitigations as necessary.
