Summary
A vulnerability exists in the matrix-hookshot bot, which is designed to connect Matrix chat rooms to external services like GitHub. Specifically, versions 6.0.1 and below of Hookshot 6, along with versions 5.4.1 and below of Hookshot 5, can be exploited by untrusted users who add their GitHub organizations to the bot. This misconfiguration leads to a Denial of Service (DoS) condition, causing the bot to crash upon restart due to a lack of necessary input validation. Promptly updating to the latest versions, 6.0.2 or 5.4.2, is essential to mitigate this risk.
