Path Traversal Vulnerability in ZOO-Project's WPS Implementation
CVE-2025-25284
What is CVE-2025-25284?
A vulnerability in ZOO-Project's WPS (Web Processing Service) implementation allows attackers to exploit improper validation of file paths used in VRT (Virtual Format) files. This flaw enables path traversal attacks, leading to unauthorized access to files stored outside of the intended directory. Specifically, the SourceFilename parameter in VRTRasterBand elements is not properly sanitized, allowing relative path traversal sequences (../). As a result, unauthenticated users can remotely read arbitrary files from the system, which could include sensitive system files, configuration data, and credentials. This vulnerability poses significant risk, as it exposes confidential information through a service that requires no authentication. Users are strongly advised to upgrade to the latest version to mitigate this issue.
