What is CVE-2025-27497?

OpenDJ, an LDAPv3 compliant directory service, is susceptible to a denial-of-service issue that leaves the server unresponsive to incoming LDAP requests. This vulnerability arises when an alias loop is created within the LDAP database. Executing an ldapsearch request with alias dereferencing set to 'always' on the involved alias entry can lead to the server stopping response to all future requests, although a server restart can restore functionality without data loss. The problem has been addressed in version 4.9.3 and users are advised to upgrade to mitigate this risk.
