Path Traversal Vulnerability in Kirby Content Management System
CVE-2025-31493
What is CVE-2025-31493?
A vulnerability exists in the Kirby content management system that affects versions prior to 3.9.8.3, 3.10.1.2, and 4.7.1. This flaw arises when the collection() helper or $kirby->collection() method is employed with dynamic names, which are reliant on request or user data. In such instances, the vulnerability allows attackers to bypass security checks and access arbitrary files on the server inaccessible to the PHP process, including directories beyond the collections root. Although exploiting this vulnerability requires the attacker to have knowledge of the site's structure and possibly the server's file system, automated methods could be leveraged to discover such weaknesses. The issue has been resolved in subsequent releases by introducing checks that restrict loaded collection paths, ensuring they remain within the configured root.
