- 10 July 2025
What is CVE-2025-32989?
A heap-buffer-overread vulnerability was discovered in GnuTLS, specifically during the parsing of X.509 certificates that include the Certificate Transparency (CT) Signed Certificate Timestamp (SCT) extension. This flaw allows attackers to craft certificates with malformed SCT extensions containing sensitive data. If GnuTLS processes these improperly validated certificates, it may expose confidential information, particularly when the SCT is not correctly verified. This scenario represents a significant risk when handling certificates from certain websites.
