What is CVE-2025-34079?
An authenticated remote code execution vulnerability exists in NSClient++ version 0.5.2.35 when the web interface and ExternalScripts module are enabled. This vulnerability can be exploited by a remote attacker who possesses the administrator password and can authenticate to the web interface (default port 8443). Through the /settings/query.json API, the attacker can inject arbitrary commands to be executed as external scripts and then save the configuration. The scripts can subsequently be triggered via the /query/{name} endpoint, executing the injected commands with SYSTEM privileges. While this feature is designed to allow script execution, the absence of proper safeguards and privilege separation renders it highly risky if exposed to untrusted entities.
Affected Version(s)
NSClient++ Windows 0.5.2.35
Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
