What is CVE-2025-34112?
An authenticated multi-stage vulnerability affects Riverbed SteelCentral NetProfiler and NetExpress virtual appliances. It begins with a SQL injection in the '/api/common/1.0/login' endpoint, allowing attackers to create unauthorized user accounts in the appliance database. This unauthorized user can exploit a command injection vulnerability within the '/index.php?page=licenses' endpoint, executing arbitrary commands on the system. Additionally, an insecure sudoers configuration enables the 'mazu' user to execute commands as root, facilitating SSH key extraction and command chaining to escalate privileges. Successful exploitation can lead to full remote root access to the affected appliances.
Affected Version(s)
SteelCentral NetExpress 10.8.7
SteelCentral NetProfiler 10.8.7
Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
