What is CVE-2025-3528?
A vulnerability exists within the Mirror Registry of OpenShift due to improper control of write permissions on the /etc/passwd file in the quay-app container. Malicious actors gaining access to this container can modify the passwd file, consequently enabling them to elevate their privileges to that of the root user within the pod. This flaw poses significant risks to the integrity and security of the affected environments, necessitating immediate remediation.
