What is CVE-2025-39742?

A vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel related to the hfi1 driver, where a divide-by-zero error may occur. The issue arises within the function responsible for computing the hardware thread mask, particularly when dividing the number of online CPUs by the number of core siblings. If the latter value is zero, it leads to a runtime error. This has been mitigated by repositioning the zero check, ensuring error prevention during the computation process.
