Linux Kernel Vulnerability in Function Tracing Notifier Mechanism
CVE-2025-39829
What is CVE-2025-39829?
A vulnerability in the Linux Kernel's function tracing notifier mechanism caused a warning during kernel operations. When the kernel attempted to write to the function_profile_enabled interface, the notifier was not properly unregistered due to a failure in start_graph_tracing. This oversight led to an error being thrown the next time the interface was accessed, indicating that the notifier had already been registered. The issue was addressed in subsequent updates by implementing the necessary unregister_pm_notifier functionality to prevent the warning from occurring.
