Memory Leak Vulnerability in Linux Kernel Affecting DAMON Management
CVE-2025-40229
What is CVE-2025-40229?
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's DAMON (Data Access Monitor) management can lead to memory leaks. Specifically, the function damon_destroy_scheme() inadequately cleans up the ops_filter alongside the filter list when a scheme is destroyed. This oversight results in unfreed memory resources, which could potentially accumulate over time, degrading system performance. The patch addresses this issue by ensuring that both the filter and ops_filter are correctly deallocated, thereby preventing memory leaks and enhancing system stability.
