What is CVE-2025-4644?

A session fixation vulnerability was identified in the SQLite adapter of Payload, stemming from identifier reuse during account creation. This flaw allows an attacker to create an account, save the associated JSON Web Token (JWT), and subsequently delete the account without invalidating the JWT. When another user creates a new account, they may receive the previous identifier, enabling the attacker to reuse the JWT and perform unauthorized actions as the newly registered user. This critical issue has been resolved in Payload version 3.44.0.
