What is CVE-2025-46718?

The sudo-rs implementation of sudo and su, developed by Trifecta Technology, contains a memory safety issue that allows users with limited sudo privileges to exploit the ‘-U’ flag to reveal the sudoers file. This flaw enables users to access sensitive information about the command privileges of other users on the system, potentially setting the stage for more targeted attacks. Notably, systems where users do not possess sudo privileges or are able to execute all commands as root are unaffected. The vulnerability has been addressed in version 0.2.6, which eliminates this exposure.
