What is CVE-2025-48057?

The Icinga 2 monitoring system has a vulnerability in the VerifyCertificate() function, which can be exploited to improperly validate certificates. If built with an older OpenSSL version (prior to 1.1.0), an attacker can craft a malicious certificate request that appears as a renewal of an existing valid certificate. This enables the attacker to obtain a legitimate certificate, facilitating the impersonation of trusted network nodes. Users are recommended to update to versions 2.12.12, 2.13.12, or 2.14.6, which address this vulnerability.
