What is CVE-2025-5222?
A stack buffer overflow has been identified in the International Components for Unicode (ICU) library. Specifically, this vulnerability is triggered during the execution of the genrb binary, where an overflow occurs within the 'subtag' structure at the SRBRoot::addTag function. If exploited, this vulnerability could result in memory corruption and enable local attackers to execute arbitrary code on the affected system.
Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
