What is CVE-2025-52473?

The liboqs cryptographic library, developed by Open Quantum Safe, contains a vulnerability that arises from multiple secret-dependent branches within the reference implementation of the HQC key encapsulation mechanism. When the library is compiled with Clang at optimization levels higher than -O0, these branches can inadvertently leak secret key information. An attacker could exploit this flaw through a proof-of-concept local attack to recover the entire secret key, posing a significant security risk. Users are advised to update to version 0.14.0 or later, where this vulnerability has been addressed.
