What is CVE-2025-52478?

A stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability has been discovered in the n8n workflow automation platform, affecting versions 1.77.0 through 1.98.1. The flaw resides in the Form Trigger node's HTML form element, where an authenticated attacker can inject malicious HTML content. By utilizing an with a srcdoc payload or a tag's onerror event, the attacker can execute arbitrary JavaScript. This allows for the exfiltration of sensitive information such as n8n-browserId and session cookies from authenticated users accessing a crafted form. Successful exploitation can result in Account Takeover (ATO), enabling the attacker to manipulate user account details, particularly if two-factor authentication is not enabled. It is critical for users to update to version 1.98.2 or later to mitigate this vulnerability.
