Directory Traversal Vulnerability in kotaemon Tool from Cinnamon
CVE-2025-53358
What is CVE-2025-53358?
The kotaemon tool, an open-source resource for document comprehension, has a vulnerability that permits directory traversal through the index_fn method in its UI module. This method does not correctly validate inputs, allowing attackers to exploit the tool by providing both file paths and URLs. Consequently, sensitive configuration files may be exposed by navigating the filesystem away from the intended directories. A patch has been introduced in version 0.10.7 to mitigate this vulnerability, but users are encouraged to update promptly to ensure their systems remain secure.
