What is CVE-2025-54133?

A UI information disclosure vulnerability exists in the Cursor code editor's MCP (Model Context Protocol) deeplink handler, affecting versions 1.17 to 1.2. This flaw allows attackers to potentially execute arbitrary system commands through social engineering tactics. When a user clicks on a malicious deeplink (e.g., cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install), the installation dialog fails to display critical arguments linked to the command being executed. Consequently, a user unaware of the underlying risks might authorize an unsafe command by inadvertently clicking through the installation dialog, leading to the execution of harmful actions on their system. The issue is addressed in version 1.3.
