What is CVE-2025-54871?

A security flaw in Electron Capture allows unprivileged local users on macOS to bypass TCC privacy protections. By utilizing the ELECTRON_RUN_AS_NODE environment variable, malicious users can execute arbitrary Node.js code via the -e flag within the Electron context. This execution inherits any previously granted TCC entitlements, potentially exposing sensitive directories such as Documents or Downloads. Users are strongly advised to upgrade to version 2.20.0, which addresses this issue.
