What is CVE-2025-54991?

JupyterLab Desktop for macOS before version 4.6.2-1 contains a vulnerability that allows an attacker with local code execution capabilities to load arbitrary dynamic libraries. This occurs due to the application declaring the com.apple.security.cs.allow-dyld-environment-variables entitlement, which bypasses the hardened runtime protections. As a result, any code executed can inherit existing TCC permissions, potentially granting unauthorized access to sensitive folders such as Documents, Desktop, or Downloads without further prompts from macOS. Fortunately, this issue has been addressed in the latest release.
