What is CVE-2025-55582?

A vulnerability exists in the D-Link DCS-825L's firmware version 1.08.01, related to the mydlink-watch-dog.sh script. This script executes binaries like dcp and signalc without validating their integrity or permissions. This oversight allows an attacker with local access—gained either through physical means, firmware tampering, or debug tools—to replace critical binaries with malicious versions. The script, running as root in a continuous loop, creates a potential for persistent privilege escalation and arbitrary code execution. It's important to note that although this issue is resolved in firmware version 1.09.02, the DCS-825L is no longer supported and has reached End-of-Life status.
