What is CVE-2025-57849?

A security issue has been identified in specific versions of Red Hat Fuse images, where the /etc/passwd file is inadvertently created with group-writable permissions during the build process. This vulnerability could be exploited by an attacker executing commands as a non-root user within an affected container. By leveraging their membership in the root group, the attacker may manipulate the /etc/passwd file, potentially allowing them to add a user with arbitrary user ID (UID), including UID 0, which would grant them full root privileges within the container environment.
